Eryk the Painter

Dear readers,

I have the pleasure to inform you that we had a fifteen years old Painter as our guest during the days of the Palio!

What a wonderful surprise for me when at ckeck-out Eryk gave me a canvas with a painting done by himself during his stay at Borgo Grondaie with his family.

How cute he was :-)

Here is a picture of his work. The subject is the view of the San Francesco's Church in Siena from our pool.

the new Thelma and Louise
They arrive at the Borgo with thousands of questions about things to do but soon they got used to the Italian way of living. They spent their time... relaxing and enjoing wine.
I cannot write here their experience with our masseur but when they told me I couldn't stop laughing.
They spent two days at the cooking school and I hope they menage to organize an Italian party at home.
We love them becouse all day they had a new adventure to tell us and they had so much enthusiasm in eveything they do.
Dear Thelma ans Louise hope to see you soon at the Borgo with all suitcases....

DEAR MIGUEL: WE MISS YOU

Going on with articles about our dear guests/friends Amina and I have decided that this is Mr. Ferrer turn. A Spanish (I know that he will become crazy as I ‘ve written Spanish and not Castigliano….but I don’t know how the English translation is…….) wonderful person that loves so much the Palio race to come every year to see on August the traditional Siena horse race.
I can say THERE IS NO PALIO ON AUGUST IF FERRER IS NOT AT THE BORGO.

In Italy it’s raining ... in Siena it has been raining for several days and the days are becoming increasingly gray. Fortunately there are our guests/friends –more friends than guests - who are sending us photos and even if... far from us they express us their affection. In short they love us we love them .... This is certainly the case with the De Luca’s family. Daniele, the boss, was born and grew up in Siena after the second world war. Very hard time. He met Mary Ann in Rome ...

This is the beautiful book written by our friend / guest Yvonne Weatherhead. It's a fabulous story and we heartly recommend this reading. It's only available in England (for now) but please contact Yvonne through the website www.weathereheadprojects.com for a copy. I have read it and I think it is recommended to all foreigners who want to deepen the English vocabulary.

WHEN GUESTS BECOME FRIENDS

Rod and Yvonne are back at the Borgo. It’s many years that during the summer They come to visit us and their presence here is always a great pleasure.
We can no longer call them simply guests but friends, good friends
So good friends that Yvonne, who writes books... for children, has dedicated his latest work to Gaia, Giovanni,Paolo and to Borgo Grondaie where the book was written.
The book is fantastic. The book title is STARFLY and it’s the story of a puppy ... but I do not want to reveal anymore
I suggest you to buy it because it's a beautiful story. The writer’s name is Yvonne Weatherhead.
However .... because time is well spent with good friends, here are photos of two dinners we had in Siena: the first by Enzo and the second in Vagliagli at the Taverna.

The groom wanted to be married in the city and church where his father was born and raised, which you must have guessed was Siena.
