In recent days my attention was caught by a forum appeared on Tripadvisor, where a young American tourist “acesmith79" (so it seems from the personal file ) has titled his remark about the city where I was born and live (Siena): "Beweare: Siena is misleading!”, comparing Siena to Disneyworld.
In the beginning, reading this comment, I was very angry but my anger was eased by reading how many people, not Sienese nor Italians, have responded by defending the beauty and peculiarity of Siena (currently more than 70).
I do not want to comment this review but the ways and tones yes I want!
From the comment left on the forum exudes an arrogance that jar on me. Equally I fell irritated by a user’s response, sharing acesmith79’s thoughts, who says that on Tripadvisor there are only good and rigged comments and that thousands of tourists who write positive reviews are just a flock without critical spirit.
But to consider authentic a comment, is it necessary that whoever writes have to be rude and angry with the entire world? Can't we express our opinions, even if negative, with placid tones and not make them go for absolute truth?
What then makes me laugh is that or this gentleman has two nicknames on Tripadvisor or he appropriates other travellers’ negative experiences and uses them to respond to those asking advice on Siena (see the answer to the second page of “Ecosseresurgam” about the forum "Beware Siena is misleading!" where he talks about the cost of a steak and the answer given by acesmith79 to the forum “Siena as base, need day trip suggestion").
My grandmother said that the world is beautiful because various… could not be the simple explanation for which not all are fascinated by the same things? There are those who like Disneyworld, those who like Siena, there are those who, with the necessary distinctions, appreciates both…. And fortunately there are still in this world many people educated and respectful.
