Yesterday I saw the last movie of James Bond, Quantum of Solace, with Daniel Craig.
I was very curious to see the scenes made in Siena. They are terrific! I wanted to clap at the first scene as it is amazing.
Immediately after the first chase... that takes place between Lago di Garda and Cave di Carrara, James Bond arrives in Siena in one of the most scenic point of the city: the small square in front of the church of the Contrada dell’Onda from where you can see the Torre del Mangia. From there James Bond drives trough Via Dupré till Vicolo delle Carrozze, another striking corner of Siena in Contrada della Selva. Then the chase resumes and take place along the Bottini di Siena while in Piazza del Campo the Palio race is taking place. James Bond comes out of the Square from the hidden Medieval passage called Bottino di Fonte Gaia, passes in the middle of the crowded square till the Cortile del Podestà and then runs over the roofs of Siena towards Via del Porrione.
The chase ends inside a church and... I won’t tell you anymore, of course.
What I can say is that if you have already visited Siena it will be fantastic to review this beautiful city at the cinema. If you have not visited it yet I am sure that after seeing the movie you will book your next trip in Tuscany.
We'll be happy to let you know some of the backgrounds concerning the movie and the locations. How can we know that? Well, this was the only subject in Siena for months even for local newspapers and the ‘Consorzio per la tutela del Palio di Siena’ (which looks for "the preservation and protection of the image, the insignia, emblems, weapons and armors, flags, gonfalons, costumes, clothing, drapes and colors and everything else is part of the heritage of the Contrade and the Palio di Siena and is used by Contrade and the City Siena”) had an important part in assuring to public that all the scenes were true to Siena reality.
In the meantime, have a look to this video made by an amateur 007 DANIEL CRAIG SCENA DEL FILM SUI TETTI It's about one of the scenes of the chase in Siena.
Have a nice showing!

just got back from seeing Quantum of Solace; it was entertaining at least, but it could have done with six or seven fewer chase scenes
